actor_kind

Kinds of actor. Every Context::KIND is one of these values. Also the actor_kind telemetry attribute.

ValueMeaning
documentOne per Automerge document of any kind.
routerThe radix namespace router.
mirrorOne per mirrored workspace directory.
workspaceOne per forked workspace: holds the workspace index as durable context, composes each file's view from its base and override renders, and splits edits and saves through the view's span map. main has none.
syncThe one sync actor per daemon (§2, decisions 30 and 68; lane M3.sync): one /lvcs/automerge-sync/<wire major> stream per peer pair, carrying tagged sync messages for every document, .lvcs/caps first, between the transport and the document actors.
gossipThe one gossip actor per daemon (§2, §9; lane M3.gossip): topic membership, validation of every received message before it is forwarded, and peer-scoring inputs.
coordThe one coordination actor per daemon (§5, decision 51; lane M3.coord): notifications, the wait window, note and hold responses, the advisory yield, presence, and the bulletin.
grantsThe one rate-limit actor per daemon (§15, decision 40; lane M3.grants): per-signer token buckets for gossip forwarding and for the daemon's signing rate.
transportThe one transport actor per daemon run (§2, decision 222; lane M3.transport), stepped inline by the transport shell: whom to dial and redial, what goes into the DHT, relay reservations, and which side opens a peer pair's sync stream.
runnerThe one runner actor per daemon (decisions 121, 142, and 245; lane M5.validator), key "": for the change actions' channels it serves, it prepares main's visible frontier, runs the change actions it can't reuse, and attests each channel once all of its actions pass; for each gated action's channel, it picks the runner of each pending run from the runners' presences and records each run's outcome. What it serves comes from its participant's grants, any set of channels, never a mode.
channelsThe one channels actor per daemon (decision 120; lane M5.validator): each channel's value by head descent, with fail-closed bundle pairs and the quorum rule, and the approved heads of each protected path.
inboxThe one inbox actor per daemon (decision 118; lane M4.adapter): the notifications pending for each local participant, kept when they match its interest, listed by notifications and the hooks, and read by notifications.read.
lifecycleThe daemon's lifecycle actor, run inline by the shell: starting, joining, ready, draining, and stopped, with policy and caps known or not as context facts.
intakeThe daemon's save intake actor, run inline by the shell: held mirror saves, first in first out per mirror, and their waits on signing tokens.
editsThe daemon's edits actor, run inline by the shell: parked edits and their waits on scans and signing tokens.
renewalsThe daemon's renewals actor, run inline by the shell: the grants due for renewal and the revocations in flight.
outboxThe daemon's outbox actor, run inline by the shell: notifications and publishes in flight.
notesThe daemon's notes actor, run inline by the shell: received notes, their resolution, and auto lines.
tracksThe daemon's tracks actor, run inline by the shell: each track_edit until its range is located.
stopsThe daemon's stops actor, run inline by the shell: each local participant's newest changes and the stop_gate requests waiting.
issuesThe issues actor, run inline by the shell: each local participant's current issue and presence on issues, the claims it made that wait out their window, and which issue notifications its derivations send.
streaksThe runner's check streaks actor, run inline by the shell: each check's failing streak.
generationsThe daemon's generations actor, run inline by the shell: the generation main shows, where each derived output stands, and who is told a derivation failed.
change_drainThe change executor's drain actor, run inline by the shell: which job's blocking step is out, and the step a runner that stopped serving change channels discards when it comes back.
admissionThe admission actor, run inline by the shell: each quota'd grant's change counts, whether a write passes its grant's quota, and whether a run holds its grant.
runOne action's run, run inline by the shell's executor, one incarnation per run: it sequences the action's steps, each one lvcs sandbox exec in one run directory, with what each step wrote to its step files as event data.
hostThe per-user daemon's host actor, run inline by the daemon, one per daemon: the registry of project roots and each project's lifecycle, and where each connection's hello is routed. Journaled in the daemon's state directory, not in any project's journal.
hostedOne hosted project's lifecycle in the per-user daemon, run inline by the daemon, one incarnation per opening: opening or joining, open, failed with its reason, and closing. Journaled beside the host actor.
updaterThe per-user daemon's updater (the updater row), run inline by the daemon, one per daemon: it checks for a signed release, downloads and verifies it, waits for every sandbox to finish, replaces the binary, and restarts the daemon. Journaled beside the host actor.
runsThe daemon's runs actor, run inline by the shell: every run state runners gossip, its own included, at most RUN_HISTORY_MAX per channel.
reachThe project daemon's reach actor, run inline by the shell: which known peers hold which revocations.
watchesThe daemon's watches actor, run inline by the shell: which connection's watch takes which push kind.
resourcesThe per-user daemon's resources actor, run inline by the daemon: the last hour of its resource samples. Journaled beside the host actor.
importsThe owner's daemon's git imports actor, run inline by the shell: each mapped branch's last commit seen and imported, a rewrite held, and the import in flight.
rpc_sessionOne remote connection's session on the host peer, run inline by the project's shell, one incarnation per connection: challenged, then serving a paired device, an unpaired device that may only pair, or an anonymous reader, and each request checked against its scope.
pairingOne lvcs auth login, run inline by the project's shell, one incarnation per login: waiting for a device, claimed by one, then confirmed, declined, or expired.
rendezvousThe per-user daemon's rendezvous actor, run inline by the daemon, one per daemon: each WebRTC session a browser offered through the tracker, from accepted or refused, answered, and open to ended. Journaled beside the host actor.
